Vitamin C & Lysine

Combines 2g of lysine, 2g of ascorbic acid and magnesium ascorbate in each dose, in a tasty berry flavoured powder for easy and effective support of chronic viral infections and management of CVD and chronic dyslipidaemia. Vitamin C prevents lipid oxidation and protects arteries from structural damage, while Lysine appears to modify the harmful effects of Lp(a) and its role in blood clotting processes.

L-lysine is an essential amino acid that is known to promote protein synthesis (Chang and Gao, 1995). l-lysine has been reported in previous studies to improve neurological function and cerebral blood flow in patients with ischemic stroke through neuroprotective and neurotrophic effects (Kondoh et al., 2010).

Taking L-lysine daily can help prevent cold sores and genital herpes, as reported by the University of Maryland Medical Center. L-lys is found to mediate the absorption of calcium and reduces the release of calcium in urine which help against osteoporosis-related diseases. Similarly, L-lys along with L-arginine enhance the activity of bone-forming cells and increase the production of collagen.

Rubey et. al. reports that L-lys could prevent the development of Alzheimer’s dementia (AD) by suppressing the replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), present in the cerebrum of adult, responsible for the development of AD. Moreover, dietary supplementation of L-lys is anxiolytic, and reduces chronic anxiety in humans, compared to a low L-lys diet.

Lysine indirectly facilitates the breakdown of blood clots and appears to have a regulatory role in maintaining the balance between clot formation and breakdown. In animal research, dietary lysine supplementation has been shown to ameliorate vascular calcification by modifying key pathways that exacerbate arterial calcification. C + Lysine is worth considering in high-risk individuals, those with a string genetic history of CVD and those with elevated Apo a.
