One Powerful Scan – A Smarter Step Toward Prevention

Take control of your long-term health with Evergreen Doctors’ comprehensive Whole Body MRI Scan Package.

This powerful, non-invasive imaging tool screens for early signs of structural abnormalities, such as tumours, aneurysms, organ changes, and joint issues, before symptoms appear. It’s ideal for those wanting a deeper look at what’s happening beneath the surface.

The MRI scan is head to thigh. It scans the head, neck, spine, chest, abdomen & pelvis.

The types of things that can be identified by a Whole Body MRI scan include:
• solid tumours
• metabolic disorders (like fatty liver)
• non-cancerous conditions (like cysts)
• autoimmune disorders (like multiple sclerosis)
• Spinal degeneration, nerve impingement and disk bulges
• Brain aneurysms or lesions
• Abnormalities with the sinuses, optic nerves and thyroid gland

Your Evergreen Doctors package includes:

  • A pre-scan consent and preparation appointment (phone call)

  • A Functional Medicine Optimal Health Roadmap session (recorded) to help you turn insights into action

  • A post-scan results consultation to help you interpret your scan findings with one of our Functional Medicine doctors (phone/zoom)

Eligibility checklist:

  • You need to not be claustrophobic, not be pregnant, and not have:

    • Implanted medical devices (e.g., pacemaker, cochlear implant, neurostimulator, glucose monitor or breast implants with tissue expander)

    • Metal fragments in your body (e.g., from an accident or surgery)

    • History of surgeries involving metal implants (e.g., joint replacement, spinal rods)

  • If you have any current symptoms it's best to get that investigated with the gold standard test for that issue, eg a colonoscopy if you have bleeding from the bowel

  • Your height is under 190.5 cm (6'3") and weight is equal to or under 115kg. If you are taller or heavier than this, the fee may be higher due to longer scan time. Prior to booking the date and location of your scan, you can discuss this with the VIP booking team.

FAQs

1. What does it detect?
The MRI is a non-invasive scan that can detect early signs of tumours, cysts, aneurysms, organ irregularities, joint inflammation, spinal issues, and other structural abnormalities, often before symptoms develop.

2. Is it safe?
Yes. MRI uses no radiation, unlike X-rays or CT scans. It’s a safe, pain-free, and highly detailed imaging method suitable for routine screening, especially for those wanting a proactive approach to their health.

3. What’s included in the package?
The package includes:

  • A pre-scan consent appointment

  • The MRI scan itself (usually around 45–60 minutes)

  • A Functional Medicine Optimal Health Roadmap session (recorded) to help you turn insights into action

  • A post-scan results consultation to help you interpret your scan findings with one of our Functional Medicine doctors

4. What are its limitations?
This Whole Body MRI does not replace targeted screening like mammograms, colonoscopies, or blood-based diagnostics. It cannot detect all functional or metabolic issues and is best used as a complement to other preventative health tools.

It is important to understand that this is a general wellness and observation scan. You will get a report prepared by the radiologist and have a discussion with a doctor to go through the results.

Please note:
(1) Because MRI might not be the right modality for a particular area, and a CT might better suited we don't scan everything. We are avoiding the CT due to unnecessary radiation exposure.
(2) To scan certain areas effectively, it may require contrast, and we are trying to avoid anything invasive as this is a general wellness screening scan. So, we don't use contrast dyes to avoid any unnecessary risk.

There are 5 areas that will not be scanned:
Lungs – because CT scan is preferred due to high-resolution images that help detect small abnormalities. That being said - when they look at the chest cavity, if there are any visible signs of any pulmonary masses or nodules, the radiologist will make a note and advise next steps in your report.

Heart – a full heart MRI alone involves gadolinium contrast, takes approximately 60 minutes, and people struggle to stay still for that long, making it challenging to get good images. There are better imaging tools for heart health. The Full Body MRI scan will still look at your heart quickly, and review the atrial size to check they are normal and check to see if there are any signs of thoracic aorta aneurysm.

Breasts – a mammogram is the gold standard screening tool and is available under Medicare, even if someone opts for MRI it normally requires a targeted MRI

Bowel – a colonoscopy is the gold standard as they need to visually see the bowels, remove polyps and test to make sure it is not cancerous. When we scan the abdomen and pelvis if there are any visible bowel obstructions the radiologist will make a note. We just can't look inside the bowel using an MRI.

The prostate - PSA blood test is the gold standard. A screener MRI only looks at the prostate from 2-3 axis, and a specialised prostate MRI at the prostate from about 5-6 axis.

Common abnormal findings
One thing to be aware of with whole body MRI is that, in addition to potentially detecting something serious like cancer, it can also pick up things that may never cause problems. We call these things "common abnormal findings" and the radiologist will include them in the report. These may not cause symptoms and can be completely harmless - but to determine if they are serious or harmless it may require further investigation or biopsy.

It is essential to note that whole-body MRI may not be as sensitive or specific as other imaging modalities for certain types of cancer, such as early-stage lung and pancreatic cancers. Additionally, it may not provide as much detail as specialised scans like mammography for breast cancer or colonoscopy for colorectal cancer.

Similarly, whole-body MRI will not be able to detect skin lesions, and therefore does not replace the need for regular skin cancer checks. It is crucial to consult with a medical professional to determine the most appropriate screening and diagnostic methods tailored to individual health concerns and risk factors.

5. Who is this scan best suited for?

This scan is ideal for people who:

  • Want a proactive, data-driven approach to health

  • Are interested in baseline health screening without radiation

  • Want to personalise their wellness journey with deeper insights

6. Is contrast used? No

7. How do I prepare? Do not consume any food or drinks within SIX hours of your scan (water is allowed). Arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled scan time.
